De la reseña del NYT

Me remito a la misma reseña que linqueé antes. Y el verbo linquear no existe, y no me importa:

"...transmitting the play's power isn't a matter of persuasively establishing the naturalistic atmosphere and surface conflicts. Although it depicts the bitter aftermath of a liaison between members of separate classes, and explores dueling ideas about the balance of power between men and women, and sex and love, "Miss Julie" isn't simply a play about the constrictions of class, or even of sex, but about the deeper conflict between the human soul and the physical body it must inhabit.

"Strindberg is depicting the spirit at war with the needs of the flesh, as well as the evolving human being in natural rebellion against the constraints of civilized society. If this struggle doesn't emerge, the aspects of the play that no longer speak to us are likely to impede our engagement with it: the antiquated notion of sex as a fatal transgression, of class as an inescapable prison. Out goes the baby with the bathwater [...]".

Si no saben inglés, mejor para mí: estoy aterrado, empavorecido, asustadísimo. De hecho, sólo leer cosas como eso hace que tiemble como un niño, que me sobresalte como un caballo asustadizo.

Ay. Ay. Ay.

(PERO EL DÍA QUE ALCANCE LA PRIMERA RAMA...)
